What are the risks if your doctor chooses to induce labor?

There is always a risk to mother and child during the course of a pregnancy, regardless of the mother's age, medical history or physical health. New York task force probes work injuries for criminal causes

The recent explosion of construction in New York has brought with it a rash of accidents. While work injuries and deaths are often seen as unavoidable risks of dangerous jobs like construction, the district attorney's office is seeking to bring attention to criminal activity that may be at the root of those accidents. A joint task force of several agencies is working to investigate construction accidents and the potentially criminal activity that may create hazardous working conditions.

Birth injuries may result from unnecessary cesarean sections

In New York, a woman having a baby may be full of anxiety. While giving birth is one of the most natural events that can occur, many things can go wrong, placing both mother and child at risk. The number of women who deliver their babies by cesarean section is higher in the United States than anywhere else in the world. Some believe having a C-section may protect the mother or the child from birth injuries.

While hospital star ratings are not always a predictor of the kind of care one will receive, they may be indicators of areas where hospitals need improvement. The ratings are based on a five-star system that measures 64 areas of quality. Hospitals that neglect those areas of quality may open themselves to medical malpractice claims.

Truck accidents caused by impaired drivers create chaos

Driving a tractor trailer requires focus and concentration. The size and weight of the vehicles can make them dangerous weapons if mishandled. Truck accidents can cause tremendous damage, injury and often loss of life. It is easy for any New York driver to become distracted while driving, but operating a tractor trailer while impaired may be a disaster waiting to happen.

How much time do you have in a wrongful death case?

As is the case in every state, New York has laws in place that award compensation to family members who have lost loved ones due to the negligence of another person. Called wrongful death accidents, these types of cases can be incredibly stressful on families not only because of the emotional hardship associated with them, but also because of the complex laws one must traverse in order to gain a sense of justice.
