Summer is a great time to let loose and party. Neighbors may fire up the grill and invite friends over for food and drinks. People in New York who own swimming pools may offer especially enticing invitations. However, when parties get out of hand and guests over imbibe, they may require some extra attention around the pool. An accident in a pool can leave a homeowner facing a wrongful death suit.
A grieving mother wants to know why her daughter died while over 100 people partied around her. The woman’s 29-year-old daughter attended a July party at a house where the mother claims the revelers allowed her daughter to get dangerously drunk and drown in a backyard pool. The mother is suing the homeowner and all 100 partygoers for the death of her daughter.
The all-night party was held at a five bedroom home near the bay. The deceased woman had apparently drunk to excess and entered the pool alone at some point. Around midday the next day, the partiers saw her body floating in the pool and called 911. By the time rescuers arrived, the woman was already dead. The woman’s mother believes those in attendance are responsible for allowing her daughter to become intoxicated and by failing to help her as she was drowning in the pool.
Certainly, the mother of this woman is grief-stricken. She is seeking millions of dollars for the pain and suffering caused by the wrongful death of her daughter. In New York, people who believe a loved one died due to another person’s negligence may wish to do as this woman is doing. She contacted an attorney who helped her determine the best way to seek some compensation for her terrible loss.
