Regardless of who one works for or the type of work one is engaged in, an accident can occur without warning. At times, these work injuries can result in either disability or even death. Any New York resident could suffer a serious injury on the job that could also result in significant financial damages.
According to an accident report, a 34-year-old man was working as a tree-trimmer while in the bucket lift portion of a boom truck. For reasons that are still unclear, the man was engaged in using a chainsaw 60 feet off of the ground when the boom portion of the truck malfunctioned. It crashed to the ground, taking the worker with it.
Upon impact with the asphalt, the man was thrown clear of the bucket. He died at the scene from his traumatic injuries. The medical examiner stated that he suffered severe blunt force injuries to most of his body, including a sharp implement injury to his abdominal region.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be conducting its own investigation into this tragic accident. The man was the son of the business owner who was present on the scene at the time of the fatal incident. Any time a New York resident suffers serious work injuries, he or she may have a valid claim for workers’ compensation benefits. In the event the accident proves to be fatal, the surviving family may be entitled to receive death benefits. An experienced attorney who is well versed in the claims process may provide assistance in filing these qualifying claims in a timely manner.
